With the building sector accounting for more than a third of GHG emissions in the EU, it is striking that the current legislative framework does not include any provision directly targeting GHG emission reductions.

In order for the EU to reach its decarbonisation targets for 2030 and 2050, EdEn believes that a new approach of the building sector needs to be adopted in the upcoming renovation wave strategy.

In this perspective, EdEn has put forward a set of recommendations that you can find in our roadmap “A more efficient and cleaner European building stock for a green recovery” and that are targeted towards the following objectives:

  1. Improving GHG-efficiency in the European building stock
  2. Accelerating the roll-out of modern heating solutions and e-mobility equipment
  3. Unlocking new investment solutions for GHG-efficient renovation work
