On Friday 11th of April, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Member States reached an agreement on a draft Net-Zero Framework for global shipping as a result of the 83rd Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC 83). This historic agreement, if it is formally adopted in October 2025, will create the world’s first legally binding framework for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from shipping.
