Fit for 55… and what next? – White Paper by EdEn

By -

With the European elections just a few months away, the time has come to take stock of the 2019-2024 term of office and define a post-Fit for 55 programme, as well as the next steps for the European Union’s action against climate change.

While the past five years have seen significant progress on the legislative and regulatory fronts, the EU’s climate strategy is still far from complete, and must now move on to a crucial stage: implementation.

As remarkable as the Fit for 55 is, it is only the first step on Europe’s journey towards carbon neutrality. Now it’s time for implementation, which will rely heavily on economic actors. The responsibility of the next European Parliament and the new Commission will be to ensure that the conditions are in place to enable them to accomplish this task“.

Brice Lalonde, former French Environment Minister and Chairman of Equilibre des Energies

Against this backdrop, and in light of lessons learnt from recent crises, EdEn is publishing its White Paper “Fit for 55…and what next?”.

In this paper, EdEn presents 35 lines of action for the energy transition in the energy, building, mobility and industry sectors.
