Electrification has emerged as a key driver of economic decarbonisation and now stands at the heart of the European energy policy. The contributions gathered in this edition of EdEn+ also show that there is broad support for electrification across all sectors of the economy, and that the solutions needed to make it happen are already available.
Yet despite this favourable momentum, the shift towards an increasingly electrified economy has yet to fully take off. Drawing on perspectives from businesses, industry associations, think tanks and institutional stakeholders, this publication takes stock of progress on electrification, examines the main barriers holding it back, and identifies concrete actions to accelerate its deployment across Europe.
